I am a married woman, working in a bank in Sector 9 Chandigarh. A few days ago, I was climbing up the stairs to my office and the security guard was sitting on the steps. The guard looks up to me and says, ‘Madam ji, badi garmi kardi hai aapne’ (Madam, you have made it very hot).
I feel very angered but I choose not to respond as this is my workplace. My boss happened to be coming behind me and heard what happened. He said to the guard, ‘Khushi Ram ji, aap din mein teen chaar baari nahana shuru kar dijiye. Garmi bhi kam lagegi aur shayad thoda mann bhi saaf ho jayega. Ghar pe nahi toh office ke bathroom mein naha lijiye.’ (You should start bathing 3-4 times a day. Not only will you feel the heat less, but your mind might also be cleansed. If not at home, feel free to use the office bathroom.)
The guard kept quiet and since then he has never even looked up at me. I am grateful for the support of my boss and other co-workers and I wish more people would stand up against such harassment.

Interesting post. I know things like this happen in daily basis. All we need to do is tell them clearly that you do not like the way they are communicating. That’s it. Next time please don’t wait until your bose tell him so.
Great that your boss stuck up for you. That man is a secruity gurad – he should be stopping people doing that kind of thing at work not doing it.
